Hey there, friend. I’m Kayla.
My story
There are a million photographers you can choose from. Literally. And SO many of them are talented, skilled, and lovely people. So I don’t take it lightly that you’re here in my corner of the internet, possibly considering me for your photos. For me, photography was something that snowballed from being an artist, a writer, and a dreamer from an early age. After college, I thought my career was meant for broadcasting. I was working at CBS, specializing in crime, and thinking I had it all figured out.
Until I realized I really didn’t love telling those stories.
Then, my Dad died. And it all made sense. The things that mattered most to me—my photos of him—were suddenly what I realized I had to create for others for the rest of my life. So I took my love for visual media, spent years mentoring and practicing and completing certifications, and never looked back.
I’m now a mom of two little boys under the age of 6, the wife of a pickler, a fur momma to a 10-year old puppy, a bunny, and a bearded dragon, a book worm, a traveler with a love for the islands and history, and still (all these years later) a dreamer.
I can’t wait to create art with you. To laugh with you. To meet the ones who are your entire world and give you something to cherish for the rest of your life.
XOXO,
Kayla.
Curated with care
Your family—and especially your little ones—are top priority while in my studio or in front of my lens. Because of that, I am certified in all posing and safety techniques and have spent hours making sure I can successfully communicate and work with children on the spectrum or with special capabilities and sensitivities as well. My main focus is to not only be skilled and well versed in my craft, but to handle the people you care about the way I would handle my own family. You are in good hands.
“Kayla was so patient and tender with all of our children, all under the age of 2. She was amazing.”
